Some Common Questions

I’m very fit/an athlete, can I benefit from a BioMe course?

Absolutely. Our range of courses have been designed to suit any level of health and fitness, whether you’re an elite athlete seeking performance enhancement, recovering from illness/injury, or just starting out on your health and fitness journey.

I have a specific health/medical condition, can BioMe help me?

Yes. BioMe courses are personalised according to your current health status and goals. We make nutrition, movement, and sleep recommendations specific to your needs. Our courses are not a substitute for medical advice, and we do not diagnose or treat disease. They are designed to make your body as strong, robust, and resilient as possible.

I have a musculoskeletal injury and/or pain, can BioMe help me?

Certainly. At BioMe we enable you to understand not just how you became injured but why, and what you can do about it. We don’t just treat the symptoms but look at the causes. Specific injuries will be assessed, and exercises prescribed and progressed appropriately. And you’ll also learn the crucial role played by nutrition and sleep in injury recovery. Ultimately, we aim to increase your capacity to withstand physical demands and prevent re-injury.

I’m overweight and/or unfit, will the BioMe Fundamentals programme be suitable for me?

Absolutely. BioMe Fundamentals is the ideal starting point for your health and performance journey. By focussing on and optimising your nutrition, movement, and sleep, and personalising a programme to suit your particular goals, we will help you achieve the body composition and fitness level you deserve. All while optimising your long-term health.

I have food allergies/intolerances, will BioMe be able to accommodate me?

All of our food has gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options. Before the course, we will send you our pre-course pack, which will include a questionnaire with a section on allergies, intolerances, and other dietary requirements. We will do our very best to accommodate you. If, for any reason, there is a problem, we will get in touch to discuss it with you.

Will I meet other people on the course of a similar age, health and fitness status, and with similar goals?

BioMe Fundamentals is the ideal starting point for everybody. As such, you will likely be attending with a diverse group of people of different ages, health and fitness statuses, and goals. Young clients with specific health concerns or injuries may be alongside older elite-athletes. Everybody will benefit from our fundamental Eat, Move, Sleep curriculum, and will learn a lot from each other. If you prefer to create a bespoke course, you can chose the group of people who attend.

What do I need to do to prepare for a BioMe course?

In preparation for the course, we will ask you to complete a questionnaire and a blood test. These will help us get a detailed picture of your health, lifestyle, and goals. The questionnaire is online and includes a 3-day food diary. The blood test kit is delivered to your home, and requires you to get a blood sample taken at a clinic convenient to you. Other than that, you just need to turn up motivated and ready to change.

What sort of exercise/training will be taught on the course?

At BioMe, we focus on on your overall ‘movement’. The goal is to get your musculoskeletal system working optimally, treat or prevent injury, and allow your body to move correctly and unimpeded. With this solid foundation, you can begin, continue, or increase the exercise/sport that you love to do. For years to come. We will also make specific exercise recommendations that have been shown to benefit certain health conditions or support certain goals.

What sort of food is served on the residential courses?

Our Eat philosophy starts with whole, fresh, and nutrient-dense food. This takes the form of an omnivorous, evolutionary-appropriate diet, including high quality animal and plant foods. All of our food has gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options, and we are able to accommodate various food allergies and intolerances. Just let us know in the pre-course questionnaire.

What do I need to bring with me to the course?
For non-residential courses, you will need to bring clothing suitable for moving/working out (inside and outside). The same applies to residential courses, but you will also need to bring everything you would normally take on a weekend break at that time of year. There is no need to bring any food or refreshments, as these will be provided by BioMe. Other than that, all you will need is an open mind, and a commitment to improve.
